Going in circles?? Trapped in an unhealthy Lifestyle?

The Frustrating Merry-go-round 🎠 of a Compromised Life

 
Got an unhealthy pattern in your life that is bringing you down or to ruin and want out? Here's the answer you are wanting, but may not be looking for.....
 
Let me give you an example from my personal merry-go-round. Present and past.

I confess, I am overweight, and I know it is because of the choices I make when it comes to food. When I look at my appearance, it brings depression and when I get depressed, I eat. Hence, I gain more weight, and I am more depressed. 
At times, it feels like a merry-go-round that I am chained to and I can't get off, no matter how desperately I want to. There are many other various merry-go-rounds out there other than gluttony. 
Of course, there is alcohol, and it's red-headed stepchild, drugs.( definitely not a dig at redheads! I love them). There is also gambling, pornography, stealing, infidelity, lust, greed and all different kinds of traps.
 
One way or another, this sin, yes, God said they are sins, that trap us, which at one point had brought us comfort and/or pleasure. 
Maybe it did for a season, but now it's like trying to remember the warmth of Summer while you're in the grips of Winter. Everybody who has fallen into these behaviors, knows exactly what I mean.

The world has many different ways for us to deal with these "addictions", as they are referred to by society and "educated" professionals. There's always self-help books and articles, the age-old AA program, and it's spin off, the NA program, and the one they tried to make Biblical, the Celebrate Recovery merry-go-round. 
 
Thank God that He promised us a path out without burdening your life with a program!

It can be found after the third "and" in this passage!

1 John 1:9.
‭‭
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
 
Did you catch that??!!
 
This is God's way of dealing with our merry-go-rounds! He, not struggling us, breaks the cycle! 
 
This is like his four-step program. (sarcasm intended)
First off, he says that if we confess our sins, then He takes it from there! 
Acts 3:19   Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
He then declares He is going to be faithful to us regarding this! And God cannot lie!! 
Hebrews 6:18  So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie.
3rd, He guarantees that he will forgive these sins of our! Thus, guilt and shame has no grip on us other than what we give it!!! Shake it off!!!!
Romans 8:1   Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

And finally, drum role please, He promises that He will cleanse us from this burden. Yes, He will stop the circle of destruction! 
Psalm 51:2  Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
and; 1 John 1:9   ....and purify us from all unrighteousness.
Want to hedge your bet? 
James 5:16  Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. (find someone who you know will truly pray for you) 

Does he say he will do it immediately? No. Can He? Of course! Will He? There's only 1 way to find out!!
I know that he freed me from a 6 year drug addiction in the wink of an eye 34 years ago and I have been free ever since.
It may take some time, as when he cleansed me from smoking. You will probably have an active part in the battle, but Victory is guaranteed by the Word of God!
Do your part to get on the path out of there. Confess your sin, look to Him, and obey what He tells you, and He will, He will, He will free you from your unhealthy Behavior!

TAKE UP WHAT CROSS??

  What Jesus was really saying in Luke 9:23 There is so much misunderstanding, fallacy, and false teaching of this scripture;    "You must deny yourself, take up your cross daily and follow me."  When Jesus was telling this to the disciples, He had not gone to the Cross yet, neither had he been physically carrying one around.  So, since He ALWAYS leads by example, what was He carrying around Daily?  His purpose. And His purpose was to be The Messiah on the cross. Yes, the physical cross was in his path, but that was ONE day out of his 33 years of living, and after that one day, he was done with the material of the cross!
