What Kind of Foundation supports your life?
We all have a bottom line for our lives. You know, our beliefs, our morals, our hard and fast boundaries.
Each person alive has their own foundation, but is the material the foundation is made out of, is it put together correctly?
Not all foundations are made up of the correct amounts of the necessary components. The most common foundations in modern society today is concrete. Most of the time, because of standardized formulas, the concrete is completely trustworthy. But sometimes the concrete mixture is wrong, so the concrete is not as it should or needs to be.
Concrete is a mixture of cement, sand, aggregate (rocks), and water.
What happens when the ratios are wrong?
This is an excerpt from an industry training course:
"...getting the ratio wrong in a concrete mix can lead to a foundation that is a less stable product, increasing the potential for turning out smaller than desired, along with crumbling and cracking when under pressure and making it difficult to work with and finish."
And this is particularly true of the Born-Again Christian.
If our mix of worship, service, knowledge of and obedience to God's Word is all wrong, that mess is what we are presenting as Jesus to the world, our friends and our families. (not workable, less than desired, falling apart, and difficult)
Are we all works and no Grace?
Do we possess all head knowledge, yet direly lack in displaying Love?
Do we love beyond the Holiness and justice of God Himself?
Is it all religion and no Joy?
Our foundation needs to be a successful blend of spiritual revelation from God, acceptance of the truths from God's Word, mixed with actions because of our Love and Faith for Jesus, including our personal acceptance of and giving out of Grace, Mercy, and all forms of our heartfelt Worship.
Omit or neglect any of these elements and your foundation will be less than adequate to properly support God's perfect plan.
Have you ever seen a 4 person teeter-tater? You know how it works. You can't properly use it as it was intended unless you have all 4 positions covered equally. If you have 3 kids on it and one 320lb Sumo wrestler, it's going to be a sad sight and possibly damaged.
Be very careful and mindful of your spiritual mixture/balance, as you may scare away the very people that you want to do life with.
A balanced life of real prayer, study of God's Word, personal worship and loving service is a strong, beautiful foundation on which The Lord Jesus can build you a full, full life.
